Privacy policy
This policy describes what How Many Bags (the site at howmanybags.net) collects when you use it, what it does with that information, and the choices you have. It was last updated on 2 November 2026 and applies to every page on the site.
What the calculators do with your numbers
Everything you type into a calculator is processed in your own browser. The measurements, prices and results are not sent to the site's servers and are not stored anywhere by the site. If you use the "Copy list" button, the list goes to your device's clipboard and nowhere else. The only thing a calculator keeps is your choice of feet or meters, saved in your browser's local storage so the next calculator opens in the same units. It is a single word, it never leaves your browser, and clearing your browser's site data removes it.
Server logs
The site is served through Cloudflare, which processes each request to deliver the page and to protect the site from abuse. In doing so it handles your IP address, the page requested, the time, and your browser's user agent, and it keeps short-lived logs and aggregate traffic counts. The How Many Bags team sees aggregate counts (pages viewed, countries, browsers) and does not receive or keep individual IP addresses. Cloudflare's own handling of that data is described in its privacy policy.
Cookies and analytics today
The site sets no cookies of its own, shows no advertising, and runs no analytics or tracking scripts. No advertising cookies are in use. There is nothing to consent to and no banner to dismiss.
Advertising
The site carries no advertising today. When Google ads are added, these advertising terms apply from the day the first ad shows, and the page will be updated before that day.
- Google and its advertising partners will use cookies, web beacons, IP addresses and other identifiers (such as a device or browser identifier) to serve ads based on your visits to this site and to other sites, to limit how often you see an ad, and to measure ad performance.
- Third parties, including Google, may place and read cookies on your browser, or use web beacons, to collect information as a result of ad serving on this site.
- You can opt out of personalized advertising from Google at Google Ads Settings and My Ad Center, and from other vendors at aboutads.info/choices.
- Visitors in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland will see Google's certified consent message before any personalized ad cookie is set, and can refuse or withdraw consent there at any time; the site honors that choice.
How Google uses data when you use our partners' sites or apps: policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites. That page explains what Google collects through advertising and how to control it.
Until that day, none of the above is in use: the site sets no cookies of its own, shows no advertising and runs no analytics.
If you write to hello@howmanybags.net, the message and your address are kept for as long as the conversation needs. They are kept for up to two years afterward, in case the correction it led to is questioned. The address is not added to any mailing list and is not shared.
Children
The site is a general-audience tool site and does not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. There are no accounts, forms or profiles.
Your rights
Residents of California, Virginia, Colorado, Connecticut, Utah, Texas, Oregon and other US states with privacy laws have rights over their personal information. So do residents of the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland. They may ask what personal information the site holds about them, ask for it to be corrected or deleted, and object to its use. The site keeps no personal information beyond email correspondence and the aggregate server statistics described above. A request is usually answered by confirming that nothing is held, or by deleting the email thread. The site does not sell personal information and does not share it for targeted advertising. Browsers that send the Global Privacy Control signal are honored as an opt-out in any case. To make a request, write to hello@howmanybags.net with the subject "privacy request". Requests are answered within 45 days.
